Is the check engine light illuminated on your vehicles dashboard? Don't ignore it. Call us! Today's vehicles are highly sophisticated pieces of equipment which are controlled by computers and sensors. On-board computers continuously monitor and store information based on the performance of these systems. A warning indicator light comes on because the computer has received an electrical signal from one of the systems or components that has gone outside the normal operating range to warn you that something is wrong! Based on the information received by the computer, commands are sent to three different systems: ignition, fuel, and emission control. There are seven key sensory components: The mass airflow sensor, throttle position sensor, manifold absolute pressure sensor, coolant temperature sensor, crankshaft position sensor, and the camshaft position sensor.
While your vehicle may appear to be operating and running fine, sometimes ignoring these lights can lead to serious issues such as engine damage. A yellow check engine light usually indicates that a problem exists, but probably isn't very urgent. It could be something as simple as your gas cap not being properly tightened. A red check engine light or a blinking check engine light usually requires immediate attention.
We recommend that if your check engine light comes on that you contact us as soon as possible at 865-463-2233 and schedule an appointment to diagnose the problem. We will run a computerized diagnostic analysis on the vehicle, determine what the problem is and give you an estimated price on the parts and labor required to repair your vehicle.
